Welcome to Southeastern Association for Science Teacher Education

We represent a regional member subset of the Association for Science Teacher Education (ASTE).  Our Southeastern region officially includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina.  However, we welcome any science teacher educator outside of those specified areas.

Elections for SASTE

During the 2022 regional meeting, an election for a new ASTE Representative, President-Elect, and Secretary-Treasurer will be held. Self-nominations are accepted. All nominees must be current members of SASTE. Regional election nominations can be submitted using this form.

Mission of Southeastern Region

To foster leadership in and support for those involved in the professional development of teachers of science-primarily for those working in or concerned with states in the Southeast.  In fulfillment of this mission, we meet each fall for a 2-day conference to support the work of graduate students, provide a space for potential collaborations, and share ongoing scholarship/research endeavors with colleagues across the region.

More information:

Following the success of the 2021 hybrid event, the SASTE 2022 meeting is planned to be hybrid during the first weekend in October, October 7-8, 2022. However, it will be difficult to refuse this TWO day face-to-face, beachfront experience. This year the venue is The Lodge at the Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The meeting will pilot a two-day event with the majority of the presentations taking place on Friday and a more low-key networking environment on Saturday. There are a variety of room choices; from the typical king/double rooms to bunks. Because of the unique and beautiful location, rooms at the conference hotel are anticipated to sell out.
