
Upcoming Conferences
SASTE 2023 will take place at Florida International University from Oct 6 – 8. The theme is “Science Education: Learning at the Crossroads of Science, Society, and Students.”
Timeline and Format
SASTE 2023 will follow a similar timeline to past meetings, with social events occurring on Friday (Oct 6), formal conference events occurring on Saturday (Oct 7), and working group meetings occurring on Sunday (Oct 8). We’ll also continue to conduct this meeting as a hybrid event, with in-person and virtual attendees participating in the same activities to the extent possible. Please use this link to register for the meeting. (Note that you must be a current SASTE member to attend.)
Travel and Accommodations
The Miami area is served by two major interstates (I-95 and I-75) as well as two major airports (MIA and FLL). You’re invited to book your stay at the Courtyard Miami at Dolphin Mall hotel using this link for a special SASTE rate. (Please book no later than Sep 8 in order to guarantee this rate of $189.) A scheduled shuttle service will transport attendees who stay at this hotel to and from the university campus where SASTE 2023 will take place.
Submit a Proposal
I invite you all to submit proposals for the work that you’d like to share at this meeting! Proposal types include traditional papers, works in progress, or “advice from the trenches,” and formats include poster presentations, traditional in-person presentations, and virtual presentations via videoconferencing. Please use this link to submit your proposals. You should be notified regarding acceptance by the end of August.
Elections for SASTE
During the 2023 regional meeting, an election for a new ASTE Representative, President-Elect, and Secretary-Treasurer will be held. Self-nominations are accepted. All nominees must be current members of SASTE. Regional election nominations can be submitted using this form. Elections are closed for 2022.

SASTE offers several awards: John Shrum Award, Deborah Tippins Mentor Award, Rod Nave Award, Eddie Griffen Memorial Award for Outstanding Graduate Student Position Paper, and Outstanding Faculty Position Paper. Information about each award can be found on the SASTE Awards page.

Is there a way to get on the SASTE email list to be updated with conference information?

If you check out the bottom of the regional news page, you will see an email address to request an addition to the listserv. I have just updated the conference date and location 🙂
